A vacancy has arisen for a talented individual to join our Commercial Department. The role would be based at our HQ at Douglas Bader House, adjacent to RAF Fairford, Gloucestershire, approximately 20 minutes from Swindon. RAF Charitable Trust Enterprises organises a host of aviation related events including the Royal International Air Tattoo that attracts 185,000 visitors for a weekend of spectacular aviation action every year. Our commercial activities enable us to gift our profits to The RAF Charitable Trust in order to foster and encourage an interest in aviation amongst young people and to inspire the next generation of aerospace professionals – whether engineers, pilots or ground crew. This challenging and busy role is ideally suited to someone with a sales and/or events background, who has an exceptional commercial focus and a passion for driving and growing revenue streams in line with the agreed business plan. You’ll be an energetic and talented individual who is proactive and results focussed.

Main Responsibilities include:

• Promote and sell space to consumer and non-aerospace organisations
• Develop new showground revenue earning opportunities
• To oversee the Company’s merchandise operation
• Produce and manage budgets and deliver regular and accurate financial forecasting
• Report regularly on sales against agreed targets
• Manage and maintain the CRM database of customers and prospective customers including all invoicing, administration and processing and distribution of all relevant RIAT passes
• Negotiate and manage the contractual arrangements for traders, exhibitors, performers in line with Company policy
• Manage and develop the public catering contract and the event themed zones in consultation with the marketing and customer experience teams
• Work closely with Air and Ground Operations Departments on the planning of pitches, shedding areas and any consumer projects to be sold for any event to ensure practicality of proposed offers, developing a good understanding of the safety parameters and limitations associated with activities and completing risk assessments where required
• To recruit, support, develop and manage the performance of a team of employees and volunteers

About You:

Education and Experience:

• Minimum A Level or equivalent standard of education/degree level preferred
• A significant track record in managing and delivering outdoor events or exhibitions
• Experience in a consumer marketing organisation
• Successful track record in sales
• Budget management experience
