NOEA are running an educational programme for members consisting of four modules which will take place throughout 2022. The sessions will run quarterly and members can subscribe to all four modules. Please see below information on each module and form to subscribe to the course.

Unconscious biases - January

Everyone has unconscious biases – so what are they and how can we address and avoid perpetuating them. In this session we will be identifying different types of biases that exist in the workplace and discussing how we can work as individuals and collectively to break these biases down, in order for to have a more inclusive and equitable workplace and industry. This session will be approx. 30 minutes long and pre-recorded so you will be able to watch when it suits you best. As this is the first of the courses, we strongly recommend you watch this first before our next sessions are released.

Microaggressions - March

In this live session, we will be discussing what microaggressions are and the effects and consequences that they have on individuals. We will be focusing on the impact of microaggressions rather than the intent, as this discussion requires us to take a step back and better understand and empathize the lives and experiences of others. We will also be covering key steps in how to deal with microaggresions whether you are on the receiving end, see them taking place or if you are responsible for giving them. This session will be approx. 55 minutes long and will have breakout rooms.

Privilege - April

In this live session, we will be discussing the importance of identifying our privileges which we all possess. It is important to understand that having privilege isn’t a bad thing and also doesn’t mean that you didn’t work hard for your achievements. Everyone deserves privilege, so it is important for us to use our privilege to support and help others in a positive way. This live session will be approx. 55 minutes long and will have breakout rooms.

Allyship and empathy – June

Allyship and advocacy is one of the best ways that we will be able to speed up progress for equity and inclusion in our workplaces and our industry, as often DE&I work rests upon the shoulders of a few. We will be identifying the scales of allyship and understanding the positive impacts that you can have by engaging in advocacy. This pre-recorded session will be approx. 30 mins long so you will be able to watch when it suits you best.
