The National Outdoor Events Association (NOEA) has unveiled the theme and key speakers for its 2018 Convention, taking place at The Guildhall, Bath in November this year. The convention theme is a return to ‘traditional NOEA territory’ with content challenging the ‘It Could Never Happen to Me’ approach of some within the industry.

The association has also confirmed multi award winning producer Dick Tee, NOEA Judges Award winner Linda Krawecke from Tiger Tea health and safety, and Kevin Wade, expert in event insurance, to lead the speaker line up. With Dick Tee as the convention’s keynote, each session will bring to life the new risks event producers are presented with in 2019, and ways to mitigate them as a community.

“This is a return to classic, traditional NOEA territory,” commented Andy Grove, President, NOEA. “In the past we’ve looked at commercialisation, ethical business, and our relationship with brands. But the one thing that unites all our members is that we’re the ones who build the foundations to make great events happen, and we do this by ensuring our events are safe and secure first.”

“So many event organisers still believe that ‘It could never happen to them’ and sometimes it won’t. But when it does, we have to be prepared and we need to change this attitude as an industry, to make sure we continue to be seen as professional and best in class around the world,” continues Andy.

Speakers will continue to be confirmed throughout the spring with the event taking place 22nd November at The Guildhall, Bath, ahead of the association’s annual Awards Ceremony at The Pump Rooms, Bath, later in the evening.
