The National Outdoor Events Association (NOEA) has confirmed Paul Smith, Director of City & Spectator Experience from the Global Events team at the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB), as the keynote speaker for its annual Convention, 22ndNovember 17.

As part of organisational leadership for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, earlier this summer, Paul was part of the team that oversaw one of the standout outdoor events of the year. In his talk, he will address the challenges going into hosting this and other global sports events, and how the Women’s Cricket World Cup team pulled together to create a globally iconic moment and allow access to a sport for a generation.

“The NOEA Annual Convention & Awards are all about promoting best in class for the industry and there really aren’t many events that have come close to the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup for drama, excitement, and the ability to capture the imagination of a country,” commented Andy Grove, Interim-President, NOEA. “Paul was a vital part of this success story and I’m delighted he’ll be sharing his experience with NOEA members.”

Paul’s talk adds to an already rich day of content at the NOEA Convention. The event will once again look at the wider commercialisation of the outdoor events industry with the theme of ‘The Commercialisation Project Part Two: Create. Collaborate. Control.’ His address will be part of a packed day including talks from festival organisers, discussions around supply chain relationships, and insights on technology, event marketing and much, much, more.

The event will also include a series of sessions from NOEA’s Futures Supporters GL events UK, ACT Group and Eventbrite, on the afternoon before the Convention and Awards (21st Nov). On the day of the convention (22nd November) the evening will also see the NOEA Annual Awards celebration.
