The above NOEA University/College Members and NOEA are forming an educational partnership for the benefit of students – also opportunity to work with the university sector. Lecturers are well qualified and have a wide range of industry experience within the sport, recreation, music, events and management settings. Staff also conducts research within the field.
The link between the Universities and NOEA will seek to establish opportunities for:
- career advice
- educational presentations
- guest lectures
- case study material
- quality work placement opportunities
- short course accreditation
The Universities will be working with NOEA in providing educational opportunity and innovation for those in the event sector. The first major initiative was arranged at the 2007 Convention where a special presentation took place on - “Universities & Students – what is in it for us?” by Rai Shacklock BEd. MSc. FHCIMA. ILTM, Head of UK Centre for Events Management,Leeds Metropolitan University and
Simon Bell, BSc PGCE DipCIM MCIM MA, Senior Lecturer & MCME Course, Leeds Metropolitan University
For the 2008 Convention there will be a special presentation as follows:- “Future opportunities for youth in our industry” – Rob Davidson, Westminster University and Conor Moss, University of Derby
Universities and students are being encouraged to attend the Convention and Regional Conferences in order to network with the experts in the Outdoor Events Industry and at a special admission rate.
NOEA is discussing a Special Group membership scheme for Students on the basis of University membership of NOEA. Apart from the current members, NOEA is in touch with other Universities such as Bournemouth, Brighton and Canterbury.
All Universities and students are welcome to contact NOEA for further information.
