NOEA Wales National Conference
Monday 19th and Tuesday 20th April

The NOEA Wales Conference was held in association with Gwynedd Council and the Welsh Assembly Government held at The Vaynol Estate , Felinheli in Gwynedd in April. The estate will host the Radio 1 Road show later in May and is an impressive location with a beautiful lake and park like setting. The owner is working in conjunction with Gwynedd Council to bring events to north Wales and offers an exceptional location for outdoor events.
Hugh Edwin Jones, the Creative Enterprises Officer for Cyngor Gwynedd Council , was the brains behind the conference and pulled together diverse range of speakers Monday afternoon opened with a discussion about the role of the man statuary agencies involvement with events, with representatives from the Police, Fire and Ambulance services.
Richard Limb NOEA President and Director of Capita Symonds produced a Health and Safety presentation which was very informative It was just VERY COLD! Hugh did find the central heating switches by the end of the day so Wednesday was a bit warmer! Jan Booth (Sunbaba) and Vice President also attended due to her holiday being postponed due to volcanic ash!
On Tuesday the Head of the Welsh Assembly Major Events Unit, Arthur Emyr attended speaking about how events are important to the Welsh economy He is very keen to see NOEA more involved with strategy for events in Wales which is very encouraging
NOEA will be looking at making Wales conference an annual event moving location from North to South every other year. Conwy Council. Is one of the councils who have offered to host the conference for 2011 and the NOEA Council will look at al the options later in the year. |

Following the success of last year's show, this is the largest exhibition for the events market outside London. Event UK offers a diverse visitor base: around 4,000 industry professionals created new business contacts right across the country last year. NOEA will be exhibiting at the show and members are invited to attend as part of the NOEA area. There will be a pod system and for £1400 ex vat you can have a presence on the stand. Northen Ireland Regional Conference
30th September to 1st October, Belfast, Northern Ireland
The Northern Ireland NOEA conference will take place at the Flowerfield Arts Centre Colerain Road, Portstewart, Northern Ireland about an hour from Belfast on Thursday 30th September and Friday 1st October. The event is being sponsored by Coleraine Borough Council.
There is a wide variety of speakers attending from the police, and the ambulance services. Also speakers from the Emergency planning College and the Belfast Metropolitan University. Some of the topics to be discussed will be licencing, PRS and training as well as the Young Professionals Initiative . We are hoping to arrange an informal do with music in the evening for networking opportunities as well as enjoying a few drinks in the tepees.
The event is open to members and non-members and there are opportunities for exhibiting as well. The event will finish early afternoon on the Friday which will give attendees the opportunity to explore this beautiful area.
