Foreword by the NOEA President
(NOEA Yearbook 2016)
NOEA has just turned 35, which we celebrated at our annual AGM, Conference and Awards dinner at the beautiful Roman Baths and Pump room in Bath last November. I liken this to 35 in human terms, it,s a fantastic age, we have made mistakes, learnt by them, become mature but have the boundless energy, enthusiasm, commitment and drive to focus and see things through. Essentially we know who we are and what we want! Today NOEA stands at the pinnacle of its existence and is a real mover and shaker in the world of outdoor events.
The commitment of our members is impressive, many involved in issues regarding policing costs, tax implications, sustainability and CDM. Our court day was very well received and enabled delegates to have first hand experience of our legal system at work. Thank you to all who have contributed and remember the more you put in to the organisation the more you will get out.
We have been a little less successful with our student engagement in 2015 but have plans to push this big time in 2016. We have a new student councilor and are organizing a student conference in March.
We continue to develop our links with government bodies and the other industry organisations and work on standards such as the Purple guide.
2016 looks a promising year , I welcome three new council members Paul Scaife , Richard Millward and Ian Taylor and look forward to an exciting ,rewarding , fruitful year.
Thank you all for your support, commitment and passion and many thanks to the council for their input, guidance and help and in particular Susan Tanner, whose tireless toil , energy and passion keeps us all on the right track.
I remain very proud to be your President.
