Local Authority Event Organisers' Group (LAEOG)

The Local Authorities Event Organisers Group (LAEOG UK)

Responding to the views of members, LAEOG took huge strides forward in 2009. While remaining committed to the informal networking and support work that is such a benefit to everybody involved with the group, we felt that we should try to achieve more and be more recognisable as an organisation that can contribute to the development of the industry and be in a position to be consulted on key issues. To achieve this LAEOG is now an independent formally constituted group.

Our aim is to attract members from as many of the local authorities in the UK as possible so that we can be truly representative and speak with one voice. This will enable us to engage with the key organisations, associations and governing bodies that lead the industry and increase the flow of information and levels of communication with the intention to help raise standards across the board and improve levels of consistency.

The Local Authorities Event Organisers Group (LAEOG UK)

With such a vast amount of events taking place on local authority land we fully understand the important role we have to play and that there is a huge variation in the level of knowledge, skills and experience of people that are dealing with events within local authorities. We want to drive standards up to a consistently high level right across the UK and be an organisation that members can come to and find out the information they need and learn from others. Recent topics that members have benefited from discussing are funfairs, PRS, PIPA, licensing, BS8901, portable sanitation, Noise at Work and of course the Event Safety Guide. These are just a few and we will continue to respond to members needs.

Membership is £50 per year per authority which allows two representatives to benefit from the group. This represents fantastic value for money when you consider the level of expertise that it gives you instant access to and the more members we have the more effective and influential we can be. Anybody that is employed by a local authority and has a remit to do events within their role really should be a member of LAEOG.
