At the General Council Meeting in October I reported a total of 411 members, bearing in mind that at last year’s end (31st August 2007) some 20 memberships had been terminated for various reasons. “There would be a major follow up of potential new members in November and I hoped that a target of 450 could be achieved by the time the 2008 Yearbook was to be printed in January – let us see!”
By the time the Yearbook was going to print during the second week of January there had been a tremendous upsurge in membership so much so that quite a number of late applications could not be fully processed in the formalities required. However these members have been listed elsewhere in this Yearbook and if you wish to find out more about them please contact me.
THERE IS NOW A TOTAL OF 460 MEMBERS – a net increase of nearly 50 since October! There was a challenge and we achieved it! Much of this success arose from the hard work at the Showman’s Show in October, with some introductions from members but the results came up in the “follow up” strategy as all good salesmen know! It was very hard work but I wish to thank all those who helped me so much. This forms a good basis for our next target – 500 members by the end of 2008 just in time to celebrate this achievement at the time of our 30th Anniversary. (1979 – 2009)
The small drop in membership was evidence to the fact that the vast majority of the existing membership were happy with what the Association was doing for them. The other secret is to look out for members whilst they are young – see below!
